DEPAZ
This weekend our homie De Paz will be spinning in downtown Fort Lauderdales “GreenRoom”
Bio: Born and raised in Miami, De Paz makes it his mission to have people shaking across the dance floor till they drop. Obsessed with music his entire life, it was only fitting he’d share his passion with the world in his own way. From house and nu-disco to riff ripping electronica, De Paz is the thunder that will leave smiles on faces all night.

Wakeboarding 101
To celebrate Redd’s birthday last week we took a field trip out to Crystal Lake to go to a wakeboarding party who our esteemed colleague Marcos was throwing. It was a perfect day out at the lake; the weather was beautiful, the water wasn’t too cold and we were in good company. It was a great day for beginners which we all were. Very exciting and also an addicting sport to say the least. And you definitely get a good work out from it. You gotta really keep your balance and use your legs which is a little tricky cause your natural instinct is to use your arm strength. Check out our flicks and then go get yourself a lesson. Mad fun!

A Job Well Done!
The saying goes, “Any job worth doing is worth doing well,” and the Shadesofredd Dance Showcase 2009 was no exception. Even those that are “stiff and have no swing” enjoyed themselves (I love that part!) This event was just to let the public know what Shadesofredd stands for and how music plays a big role in our individual communities. Clearly you can see how important it is in your daily life and this just goes to show how those differences can harmonize. I think it’s safe to say the grass is a little greener, fresher and brighter on our side here at Shadesofredd and you might want to bring your dancing shoes to the next event (and make sure they’re tied up tight!)

Just want to send out a ginormous “Thank You” to Red Bull and Saraswati for sponsoring such an amazing event, Dj Ivan Diaz & Dj Stell*R for keeping the music flowing as usual, Andrea Tello (at@atellophoto.com) for the beautiful photos and Miami Swag for putting together this swaggeriffic video (I hope that becomes part of our pop culture’s vocabulary) who put together this short clip so our beautiful memory of this event can be relived and rewatched time and time again. Enjoy!

SHADESOFREDD Dance Showcase 2009

It’s that time again! Been a minute since SHADESOFREDD has thrown another dope event, you say? Our response to that is, “Good things come to those who wait.” This is going to be a memorable event which will carry you through the many different styles of dance and which decade they were birthed into. Don’t quite get it yet? Don’t know too much about swing dancing or capoeira, then now is your time to learn. If you are an Art Institute student just swing by (no pun intended) and flash your I.D. If not, it’s just $5. There will even be free food! Most of all, just prepare to be blown away with the variety of dance. I personally can’t wait to learn a few moves to add to my arsenal. See you there! Need more info, contact brendan@SHADESOFREDD.com or 678.918.0659
By the way, SHADESOFREDD will be releasing a limited number of two new t-shirt designs at this special event. So if you have been waiting for some new SHADESOFREDD funky flavor, this is the place to grab it before anybody else. Just thought you might wanna know. Can’t say we never told you…

The Future @ Winter Music Conference 2009
The Winter Music Conference is the singular networking event for the dance music industry. It is currently in its 24th year and attracts professionals from over 70 countries.
SHADESOFREDD was pleased to have sponsored an event in this years conference. SHADESOFREDD proudly partnered with Saraswati, PolyRhythm, and Underground House Magazine to bring you “The Future”.

The Future
The event was a blast…man from start to finish. The lineup of DJs was just ridiculous. We had DJs from across the world playing soulful house music all night long. The DJs included Filsonik from NYC, Djinji Brown from Miami, Julius the Mad Thinker from Chicago, Trinidadian Deep from San Francisco, David Jonez from NYC, Ivan Diaz from Miami, and last but not least Boddhi Satva from Central Africa/Belgium.

The DJs did such a great job that night that the dancers could hardly keep up. Dancers from everywhere came to get down at the event. Much love goes out to all the house heads that killed it on the dance floor.
The night surely did not end there. The event was so loud that our friends, The Miami Beach Police came bearing gifts in the form of a citation for a noise violation. But what kind of party would it be if it ended there. Soon the Miami Beach Fire Department came to show their support… or maybe they came to make sure we were not over maximum capacity.
We just want to thank everyone that showed their support. The event turned out to be one amazing night that everyone will remember.

Battle @ Buffalo

The US vs Canada Cypher
Battle @ Buffalo is a monthly event held in Buffalo, NY. The event takes place every last Saturday of the month. It is a family event where dancers come together to compete and showcase their skills. The event has been going strong for about a year and it is hosted by B-boy Dupree (Shane Fry) and the Differential Flavors Crew.

Dj Simple & B-Boy Depree Rockin' SHADESOFREDD
SHADESOFREDD was proud to be apart of Battle @ Buffalo. It was great to see an event where egos were left at the door. These dancers live by the code “Music Defines Me”. Much respect goes out to Dj Simple on the wheels of steel and the Differential Flavors Crew for hosting such a great event that the whole family can enjoy.

Wuillian!, Ryan, & Diepness (Turtles contest winner.)
Thank you to everyone that came out to support the event. The underground scene thrives because of its loyal supporters. Special thanks to our Canadian neighbors who made the trip to compete.

SHADESOFREDD hits Pinkghost!
A few weeks back was one of our most exciting times since the beginning of SHADESOFREDD. We had our release party at Pinkghost! It was really “the bomb, oh-a-oh!” This is the first store in Florida to carry SHADESOFREDD. We have been going to Pinkghost for the best vinyl toys for a while and just thought it would make sense that if we are into the same things, then why not be friends. You can now purchase SHADESOFREDD tees online through Pinkghost in the apparel section. Pinkghost always has events going on too, like trading parties for hardcore collectors, a recording booth if you wanna make your own music and also exhibitions in their gallery support the local artists of Fort Lauderdale. I personally get lost in that store and could spend the day if I’m not careful. Leading up to our release we got a little write-up in the Broward County New Times. That was a good feeling and a great way to head into the following week anticipating our Pinkghost release party. The title really cracks me up. Take a look
Stell*R (the boss) was pretty amazing on the tables as always. The support you guys gave was tremendous and the dancing… oooooh the wonderful dancing! Even Redd dusted off his kicks and showed a little flava. Check out these videos that our homies Gio and Suaknee put together for us. If you were there, you know it was some magic. If not, you might not want to miss the next time…
If you have never been in Pinkghost, do yourself a favor and stop by the store (and pick up a SHADESOFREDD tee) at 21 West Las Olas Boulevard, Suite B in the Laudy-Daudy. Thanks for all your support and remember Pinkghost loves you the most!
Check out Sausage working the booth. What a memorable night!
These are some of the pics that my friend Chris Bellus took that night for the New Times
